Cobie Smulders in Talks to Join Vince Vaughn in 'Starbuck' Remake

Starbuck
Back in May we learned that Vince Vaughn would lead Starbuck, the story of a middle-aged man whose life is turned upside down when he learns he has fathered 533 children through sperm donation. When a few hundred of the children express an irrepressible need to meet their father, the donor, codenamed Starbuck, must decide whether he will step up and reveal his identity. Now Variety has word on a female lead for the film with "How I Met Your Mother" series regular and The Avengers supporting star Cobie Smulders entering negotiations for the film which is actually a remake of a French-Canadian comedy. More below!

The film's original director and writer Ken Scott is coming back in both roles for the remake which will see Smulder's as a pregnant girlfriend, something that we won't ever see happening on "How I Met Your Mother" (and fans of that show will know why). In addition, apparently "Parks & Recreation" series regular Chris Pratt has joined the cast as Vaughn's lawyer. The film is currently untitled, so we may not even see Vaughn's character have the same titular nickname as the original film's lead. Vaughn showed a great return to solid comedy in The Watch, so hopefully this remake will keep the laughs coming.
