The plot follows a man (Evans) disillusioned by love who meets a young woman (Monaghan) at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. When it turns out she's engaged, the man fakes a platonic relationship in order to get closer to her and, egged on by his friends, he attempts to win her heart anyway. Production starts later this month, and for those who read that synopsis and thought it seemed like your average, everyday movie, the script by Chris Shafer & Paul Vicknair was on the Black List in 2011.
Baker Hall did some great work in last year's 50/50, and Mackie is one of the best up-and-coming actors working today (he's also our future Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Plaza lit up the screen in Safety Not Guaranteed (one of our favorite movies of this year), and though Ribisi was pretty ridiculous in Contraband and Ted earlier this year, he has a lot of talent and is certainly a good addition to the cast. As for Grace, he really shines when playing comedic secondary roles, freed of the burden of carrying an entire movie, so the "best friend" part seems like a great opportunity for him to work some magic.
