The story follows a highly trained, deep cover operative who starts his life over in Brooklyn as a beat cop only to discover the global organization he was dedicated to fighting is also operating in his new backyard. It's not clear whether Pitt or Washington would take that role, but the story is meant for two main characters. In addition, Jamie Foxx is apparently circling another role in the film, so this already sounds pretty damn great. Gaghan has already proven he can write a hell of a crime thriller, but this time I'm more excited to see him hone in on two main characters rather than an ensemble.
It's still early in development, and no deals are done yet, but it would certainly be a project to watch with A-list talent like Pitt and Washington working together. In addition it's been seven years since Syriana was released, so we've been overdue to get Gaghan back in the director's chair again. We'll next see his work on the page hit the big screen as co-writer of M. Night Shyamalan's sci-fi flick After Earth starring Will Smith and his son and Karate Kid remake star Jaden stepping into shoes his father has worn for years. Stay tuned.
