As a sucker for coming of age tales, I'm already very excited about this film. Plus, the dynamic between Moretz and Smit McPhee in Let Me In was what made the story so compelling. Frankly, I'm more interested in seeing their pairing in this film without the genre elements that the Matt Reeves film contained. Smit-McPhee is very much on the rise (especially following a great voice performance in ParaNorman), and Moretz just keeps impressing audiences with a variety of roles, not to mention her first sequel in the form of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. Hopefully we'll see The Wilderness of James at a festival down the road.

The duo lit up the screen in the US adaptation of Let Me In, and now Deadline reports Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee look to be reunited in a new indie coming of age tale called The Wilderness of James. The story sounds like a familiar indie tale following a young Portland boy dealing with the absence of his father. Likely he forms some kind of friendship or romance with Moretz. Michael Johnson wrote the film and will make his directorial debut for the project produced by Super Crispy, the company behind the Sundance selected films Nobody Walks with Olivia Thirlby and Smashed with Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
