First Odd Golfing Teaser for Divisive Sundance Film 'The Comedy'

The Comedy Trailer
Don't be fooled by the title, The Comedy isn't exactly a comedy. Well, it is, but it's a very dark comedy, the kind that may get some love, but others will hate it with a passion. Rick Alverson's The Comedy stars the two guys behind Tim & Eric - Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, plus LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. Heidecker plays an aimless Brooklyn hipster about to inherit his father's estate, but "as his future seems to look more and more comfortable, Heidecker's hipster starts to act out in ways that are ever more uncomfortable." Which is where many of these brilliantly chosen critics' quotes (so damn good!) come from.

Here's the very first teaser trailer for Rick Alverson's The Comedy, debuted on Vulture:

On the cusp of inheriting his father's estate, Swanson (Heidecker) is a man with unlimited options. An aging hipster living in Brooklyn, he spends his days in aimless recreation with like-minded friends in games of comic irreverence and mock sincerity. As Swanson grows restless of the safety a sheltered life offers him, he tests the limits of acceptable behavior, pushing the envelope in every way he can. For more.

The Comedy is directed by filmmaker Rick Alverson, of indies The Builder and New Jerusalem. The script was co-written by Alverson, Robert Donne & Colm O'Leary. This first premiered at this year's Sundance. Tribeca Films is releasing The Comedy in limited theaters on November 16th, plus VOD on October 24th.
