"And what if you don't live?" The first trailer for the action thriller Snitch with Dwayne Johnson didn't really offer anything new in the vein of action, but we're hoping that former stuntman Ric Woman Waugh
has some tricks up his sleeve that he's saving for the big screen. At
least that seems to be the cast with a second shorter new trailer that
doesn't offer much new footage or plot points from the film. That could
be good or bad news depending on what you're looking for, but for now
I'm turned off by terrible music and recycled, generic action beats, but
maybe Benjamin Bratt will be a good villain for Johnson to fight? Watch!
Here's the short new trailer for Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch from The Rock's YouTube (via Film Stage):
Ric Roman Waugh a stunt man on films like Last Action Hero, Days of Thunder and Total Recall and director of Felon, is at the helm of this action thriller starring Dwayne Johnson as a father who goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son who was imprisoned after being set up in drug deal. Waugh also wrote the screenplay with Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger, Revolutionary Road) and rounded up supporting talent like Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper to fill out the rest of the cast. Snitch is one of five films starring Dwayne Johnson next year, and it hits February 22nd, 2013.
Renaissance man James Franco is back at Sundance this year, and he's making things a little sexy. This time the Spider-Man and Pineapple Express star is producing a documentary from director Christina Voros called Kink,
which takes a closer, practical look at the fetish website Kink.com and
all their adult operations. Kink.com is the largest producer of BDSM. Now the first red band
trailer for the documentary has arrived, and while the content is
obviously for adults, there's not any nudity or depiction of explicit
sex acts. There's some raunchy talk and off-camera action and sounds,
but this looks pretty intriguing. Watch!
Here's the first red band trailer for Christina Voros' Kink via SlashFilm:
Kink.com is the Internet’s largest producer of BDSM content and their directors and models strive for authenticity. In an enterprise often known for exploitative practices, Kink.com upholds an ironclad set of values to foster an environment that is safe, sane, and consensual. They aim to demystify the BDSM lifestyle, and to serve as an example and an educational resource for the BDSM community. Christina Voros directs this documentary Kink which turns the lens on a seemingly misunderstood subculture. James Franco produces the film premiering at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival this month but has no release date yet.
"Are we fitted to the times we're born into?" During the first 2012 presidential debate, Disney/DreamWorks unveiled a new extended TV preview for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln. The spot runs a full 2-minutes and is titled "Unite". Daniel Day-Lewis plays our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, in this epic story that tells of his last four months. The first full trailer debuted last month and marketing is now ramping up, including this TV spot showing up right in the thick of election season. David Strathairn and Tommy Lee Jones also appear, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt who wasn't seen in the trailer much. This was the footage I was waiting to see, it looks epic and emotional and monumental in every sense of the name Lincoln. Enjoy!
Here's the full debate TV preview for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, originally from YouTube:
Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, which finished shooting last year, stars Daniel Day-Lewis (of My Left Foot, Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood) as our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, and focuses on the last four months of his life, guiding the North to victory during the Civil War. The cast includes Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, John Hawkes, Walton Goggins, Hal Holbrook, Tim Blake Nelson and David Oyelowo. The film has a screenplay by Oscar nominee Tony Kushner (Angels in America, Munich), based on many books about Lincoln's life. Disney, releasing the DreamWorks production, will debut Lincoln in limited theaters starting on November 9th, expanding wide on the 16th.

After giving the remake treatment to Halloween and then crafting an inferior sequel, horror writer and director Rob Zombie is back with original scares this time. His new film Lords of Salem also includes a bit of a musical influence as it follows a radio station DJ who receives a wooden box containing a vinyl record, described as “a gift from the Lords.” Of course, the record starts to have a strange influence on those who listen, and the band behind the record comes back and they're out for blood. Bruce Davison, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree also star in the film and you can get a taste of the horror in store in the trailer below!
Here's the first trailer for Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem, originally from Deadline:
Rob Zombie (House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, Halloween) writes and directs Lords of Salem. Sheri Moon Zombie plays a radio station DJ who receives a wooden box containing a vinyl record, described as “a gift from the Lords.” She assumes it’s from a band trying to promote themselves. As she and others listen, they don’t realize the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem? The film played TIFF 2012 and Anchor Bay releases the film into theaters sometime in the spring of 2013. Well?

It's been awhile since Jennifer Lopez took a dive into action, so who better to team up with than Jason Statham? Let's be honest, there's a certain kind of film we've come to expect from Statham (The Bank Job being pretty much the only exception to the rule), and this first trailer for Parker certainly fits the bill. Sure it's silly, but there's plenty of action, and this time Statham throws on some (terrible) disguises. Plus Michael Chiklis and Nick Nolte are in the mix this time around, so that should make for a little bit of fun when the film hits theaters early next year. It doesn't look good, but it just looks like a Statham movie.
Here's the first trailer for Taylor Hackford's Parker from Machinima:
Taylor Hackford (Ray, Proof of Life) directs Parker from a script by John J. McLaughlin based on Donald E. Westlake's novels featuring the titular recurring character. Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don't steal from people who can't afford it and don't hurt people who don't deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Disguised as a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez) to devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean. The film hits theaters January 25th, 2013.

A gorgeous colorful poster for DreamWorks Animation's The Croods popped up last week, and now the caveman comedy from How to Train Your Dragon collaborators Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco has an official trailer. The animation is stellar, but I'm not so sure the voice of Nicolas Cage jives with his character's design. This is merely a tease for the adventure in store for The Croods (instigated by Emma Stone's characters curiosity), and we don't even get a glimpse of Ryan Reynolds' character in the trailer. There's impressive imagery here, but we'll have to wait for another trailer to get a better idea of the story.
Here's the first trailer for DreamWorks Animation's The Croods originally from Apple:
How To Train Your Dragon collaborators Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco are co-directing this prehistoric animated feature film, which was also developed with the help of Monty Python troupe member John Cleese. The film follows The Croods, an introverted family, who find themselves guided out of their cave into this dynamic world by a resourceful newcomer (Ryan Reynolds) who may bring more stress than relief to the patriarch (Nicolas Cage) of the family. Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman also voice characters in the DreamWorks Animation film slated to theaters in 3D on March 1st, 2013.

"My penis could literally grow an eyeball and I wouldn't tell you." Yesterday the first poster for The Guilt Trip arrived with Barbra Streisand being very motherly to Seth Rogen. Now we get to see the two co-star as mother and son hitting the road for the new comedy from The Proposal director Anne Fletcher so it feels a little generic and light, but Seth Rogen kind of makes this work for me. He's so charismatic and genuine and seems to have great chemistry with Streisand, so this might be a surprisingly charming comedy when it hits at Christmas. It's also nice to see Casey Wilson from "Happy Endings" pop up briefly too.
Here's the first trailer for Anne Fletcher's The Guilt Trip originally from Yahoo:
Andy Brewster (Seth Rogen) is an inventor who lives in Los Angeles. He’s come up with an amazing organic cleaner but can’t get anyone interested in manufacturing it. Andy plans a business trip to promote the product and decides to take his recently-widowed mother (Barbra Streisand) along for the ride. She’s been despondent since his father died, so he comes up with a great idea—during the trip he’ll surprise her with a stop in San Francisco, where one of her ex-flames lives. What could go wrong? Adam Scott, Danny Pudi, Colin Hanks and Yvonne Strahovski also star in The Guilt Trip arriving on December 25th. Interested?

Ever since the first footage was shown at Comic-Con this past summer, audiences have been waiting to catch a glimpse of The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer as the titular hero and Johnny Depp as his sidekick Tonto. The teaser poster just popped up yesterday and now the first trailer (basically what was shown at Comic-Con this summer) is finally here, and it certainly puts to rest those concerns over the film's budget (for now). There's impressive action, and this looks like the kind of surprising film that director Gore Verbinski delivered with Pirates of the Caribbean. We might be looking at a new Western franchise.
Here's the first trailer for Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, in high def from Apple:
"There come a time, Kimosabe... When good men must wear mask..." Never take off the mask. Thoughts?
The Lone Ranger is directed by Pirates of the Caribbean franchise helmer Gore Verbinski and written by Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio and Justin Haythe. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. Lone Ranger arrives July 3rd, 2013.

We got a first look at the ensemble comedy Movie 43 out of nowhere yesterday, and now the first red band trailer has arrived for the film that features nearly a dozen directors and countless big name talents. It looks like nearly everyone has something raunchy, filthy and gross to talk about or do in this film. Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott play with a leprechaun played by Gerard Butler while Halle Berry blows out some blind kid's birthday cake candles. Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts bully their homeschooled son and Anna Faris has a special request for her longtime boyfriend (and real life husband) Chris Pratt. This seriously looks like it's going to not just push the envelope, but set it on fire. Watch it!
Here's the first red band trailer for Movie 43, originally from Comedy Central:
Movie 43 is a raunchy comedy omnibus featuring the directing talent of Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Rusty Cundieff, James Duffy, Griffin Dunne, Peter Farrelly , Patrik Forsberg, James Gunn, Bob Odenkirk and Brett Ratner. In addition, there's an all-star cast including but not limited to Kate Winslet, Elizabeth Banks, Emma Stone, Justin Long, Seann William Scott, Jason Sudeikis, Kieran Culkin, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, and many, many more. The film arrives in theaters on January 25, 2013. Good?

"I've never met anyone like you before." Samuel Goldwyn Films has unveiled the first official trailer for Jon Kasdan's The First Time, a very charming, amusing, endearing, entertaining coming-of-age indie comedy about two teens falling in love, and having sex, for their first time. It stars Dylan O'Brien ("Teen Wolf") as the guy, Britt Robertson (Scream 4, "Life Unexpected") as the girl, plus supporting cast including Craig Roberts (Submarine), Maggie Elizabeth Jones (We Bought a Zoo), Christine Taylor, even Victoria Justice. I first caught this as Sundance and it's damn good, but not everyone will be into it. Give it a shot!
Watch the first official trailer for Jon Kasdan's indie The First Time, originally from Yahoo:
Dave (Dylan O'Brien), a high school senior, spends most of his time pining away over a girl he can't have. Aubrey (Britt Robertson), a junior with artistic aspirations, has a boyfriend who doesn't quite understand her or seem to care. While they go to different schools, Dave & Aubrey find themselves at the same party.
The First Time is written and directed by indie filmmaker Jon Kasdan, of the quirky dramedy In the Land of Women previously. This first premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films for US distribution. They're releasing The First Time in limited theaters starting October 19th this fall. I saw this at Sundance and liked it quite a bit - recommended for fans of coming-of-age films.

At Sundance this year, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star Mark Webber not only had roles in For a Good Time Call... and Save the Date (getting a release soon), but he also directed and starred in the charming drama The End of Love. Featuring his real-life two-year old son Isaac, the film had a lot of improvisation as the young actor didn't have any lines that weren't spontaneous and his presence makes the film feel truly genuine as Webber plays a skewed version of himself, struggling as an actor. Now the trailer has arrived for the film which also features Michael Cera, Amanda Seyfried and Jason Ritter as themselves and Shannyn Sossamon as Webber's love interest in this beautiful indie that deserves to be seen. Watch it!

UPDATE: Mark Webber contacted us to mention that the above trailer is from putting the film on the market at Cannes. An official trailer along with distribution and release date information is coming soon!
When the mother of his two-year-old son suddenly passes away, struggling actor Mark (Mark Webber) is forced to confront his shortcomings. With his fate and his son’s now intertwined, he grapples with his ability to grow up – stuck between the life he once knew and the one waiting for him. Mark Webber also directs and writes the film which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Check out our video blog praising the film and our interview with Webber. Around the time that The Expendables 2 came out, the first trailer for Sylvester Stallone's action thriller Bullet to the Head was released. Honestly, the film felt like a parody, but not in the way that The Expendables franchise delivers over-the-top action with cheesy jokes. Now an international trailer for the film from 48 Hrs. director Walter Hill has arrived. Jason Momoa plays the villain facing off against Sylvester Stallone this time, but I feel like this is going to be another disappointment for the actor as he continues to try and land a breakthrough role for the next phase of his career. However, I hope I'm wrong.
Here's the international trailer for Walter Hill's Bullet to the Head from MSN UK:
Bullet to the Head is directed by Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hrs.) and written by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger) with Sylvester Stallone playing a New Orleans hitman who teams with a New York City detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge. The film also features Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jon Seda and Holt McCallany. Warner Bros originally had this set for release in 2012, but Bullet to the Head was pushed back to hit theaters starting February 1st, 2013 next year. Thoughts?

After winning the People's Choice Award at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, there's a lot of buzz following the David O. Russell film starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as two lost, struggling, depressed people who find solace in each other. The first trailer made it look like a charming, somewhat dark comedy, and this new one just hits that point home again. It looks like Cooper and Lawrence have some great chemistry and this might be the first great supporting role for Robert De Niro in a long time. There's likely some Academy Award nominations in store when the time comes, so watch it below!
Here's the new trailer for David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook originally from Yahoo:
Silver Linings Playbook follows a former teacher (Bradley Cooper) after spending four years in a mental institution, moving back in with his parents and trying to reconcile with his ex-wife, only to find another troubled soul (Jennifer Lawrence) who is just as lost as himself. David O. Russell writes and directs the film based on Matthew Quick's novel of the same name. Robert De Niro, Chris Tucker, Jacki Weaver, John Ortiz and Julia Stiles also star in the film slated to arrive in theaters November 21st for Thanksgiving. Good?

As Vince Vaughn and Cobie Smulders get ready to star in a remake of the French Canadian comedy Starbuck, a trailer for the the film's US release next year has finally arrived. Patrick Huard, Julie Le Breton, Antoine Bertrand and Dominic Philie star in the film from Ken Scott (who is directing the remake as well), which follows a middle-aged man whose life is turned upside down when he learns he has fathered 533 children through sperm donation. When a few hundred of the children express an irrepressible need to meet their father, the donor, codenamed Starbuck, must decide whether he will reveal his identity.
Here's the first trailer for Ken Scott's French-Canadian comedy Starbuck via The Film Stage:
Starbuck stars Patrick Huard as David Wosniak, a 42-year old lovable but perpetual screw up who finally decides to take control of his life. A habitual sperm donor in his youth, he discovers that he’s the biological father of 533 children, 142 of whom are trying to force the fertility clinic to reveal the identity of the donor code-named Starbuck. Julie LeBreton, Antoine Bertrand and Dominic Philie also star in the film directed by Ken Scott who co-wrote the script with Martin Petit. The film hits US theaters on March 29th, 2013.

If you haven't taken the time to see Paul Thomas Anderon's film The Master (especially in 70mm) you're missing out on what will surely be a huge awards contender when the time comes. Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman put in phenomenal performances that by themselves are worth a trip to the theater. But if you need more convincing, here's a stellar piece of footage that was shown as a sizzle reel at Cannes earlier this summer. The best thing about this footage though, is there's scenes that didn't make the final cut. That has me excited to see what deleted scenes there are on Blu-Ray/DVD. Watch!
Here's the final NSFW Cannes sizzle reel for PTA's The Master, originally found via HeyUGuys:
A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.
Paul Thomas Anderson (the man behind films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) wrote and directed The Master. The film follows Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950's and his main disciple (Joaquin Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower, only to later break away from his teachings. The Master is playing all over the country and has some exclusive 70mm screenings in various markets. Good?

There's a chance I'm one of the few who still looks forward to a new installment of Paranormal Activity after three films have expanded the mythology of the surprise hit found footage horror franchise. Now Paranormal Activity 4 is hyping up the fact that "all the activity has led to this." However, this new trailer doesn't give much in the vein of expanding that mythology with the exception of finally promising the return of Katie and Hunter. A working print of the film just played at Fantastic Fest and our own Tim Buel says, "It’s boring, silly and does nothing for the mythology." Personally I hope he's wrong since they seem to be incorporating some interesting elements like the Microsoft Kinect (product placement!). Watch below!

Paranormal Activity 4 is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3) with a script from TV writer Zack Estrin (who worked with franchise creator Oren Peli on "The River"). An official plot hasn't been revealed at this time, so we can only speculate as to where the franchise is going from here but Paramount Pictures will send the sequel to theaters just before Halloween on October 19th.

Last year Jason Bateman had his identity switched in The Change-Up with Ryan Reynolds, but now he's finding it complete stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy) living the high life somewhere near Miami in the first trailer for Identity Thief. Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is at the helm of this new comedy which also features Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Genesis Rodriguez, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet. Since the earlier part of the year is usually a dead time, this looks like it could be a refreshing comedy that will hold us over until spring rolls along in April. Watch the trailer below!

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (Melissa McCarthy) to live it up near Miami, buying whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using belongs to “Sandy Bigelow Patterson” and that's an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, he will discover just how tough it is to get your name back. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directs from a script by Craig Mazin and the film arrives in theaters February 8th early next year.

"Personally speaking, I can't wait to watch life tear you apart." While Spike Lee is working on a remake of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy, the South Korean filmmaker is back with his new film Stoker. Complete with some creepy and stark imagery, the film evokes a feeling of Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt, but I also found myself reminded of Cria Cuervos for some reason. Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode seem to put in overly ominous performances as Mia Wasikowska becomes more curious of their inappropriate relationship and twisted behavior. This looks like yet another jarring film from Park Chan-wook. Check it!
Here's the first trailer for Park Chan-wook's Stoker, originally from Apple:
After India's (Mia Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him. Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Vengeance Trilogy) directs Stoker from a screenplay by actor Wentworth Miller going as Ted Foulke. Fox Searchlight is releasing Stoker in theaters March 1st, 2013 next spring. Thoughts?

Parker Posey is a bit of an indie darling, and she has great comedic sensibilities, even in films that don't match her caliber of talent. Sadly at Sundance, Price Check was one of those films. While it brings some laughs, it also comes with an inconsistent tone and a very clumsy third act. The film follows Pete Cozy (Eric Mabius) who is having trouble resolving a happy marriage and family life with rising debt and a job he hates. When his new boss, Susan (Posey), a human dynamo, shows up, Pete is pulled into the maelstrom that is her life and made to work harder than he ever has before. Decide for yourself if it's worth watching.
Here's the first trailer for Michael Clark's Price Check originally from Yahoo:
Michael Clark directs and writes Price Check which played at Sundance this year. Pete Cozy (Eric Mabius) does his best juggling family life, rising debt and a dead end job, but when his new boss, Susan (Parker Posey), a sexy, powerful, human dynamo shows up, Pete is pulled into the maelstrom that is her life and made to work harder than he ever has before. Suddenly, money and opportunities come his way, but at what price? The film hits VOD next month on October 11th and arrives in theaters on November 16th. Well?

Over a year ago we got a first look at the impending Clueless reunion between director Amy Heckerling in Vamps, but since then we've only gotten a 90s style poster for the romantic comedy that focuses on two vampire women in NYC as they navigate the world of dating as bloodsuckers. We were hoping this would be some kind of irreverent, tongue-in-cheek tackling of the obsession with vampire romance that has stemmed from The Twilight Saga, but this trailer isn't like that. Basically, it's a cheesy, sweet-looking film that doesn't hit any good chords for us, and there's probably a good reason it's only getting a limited release.
Here's the first trailer for Amy Heckerling's Vamps, found via Film School Rejects:
Amy Heckerling (Clueless) directs Vamps from a script she wrote herself. Stacy (Krysten Ritter) and Goody (Alicia Silverstone) have been living the good night-life as two young and beautiful vampires until love gets in the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality and maybe much more. Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis and Wallace Shawn also star in the film which gets a limited theatrical release on November 2nd, and also arrives on Blu-Ray/DVD shelves on November 11th. Interested?
