Written by Keith Bunin, Ezekiel Moss follows a young small town boy with an active imagination who befriends a mysterious drifter who might be able to speak with the dead. Hoffman directed himself in Jack Goes Boating, but there's no mention of whether or not he'll star in this project as well. We don't have a lot to go on with this one just yet, other than a quick quote from one of the producers, Mandalay Pictures' Cathy Schulman, who calls Moss a "captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural."
Hoffman is certainly well-versed in explorations of faith, having played reverends in Cold Mountain and Doubt along with the creator of a new religion in The Master. As for Bunin, he also adapted the screenplay for the upcoming thriller Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe and based on Joe Hill's novel, so he already has some experience with the supernatural. It's an interesting combination, and certainly a departure from Jack Goes Boating for Hoffman as a director, so we'll be very curious to see how he handles something with a bit more bite to it once the cameras start rolling. Stay tuned for any updates along the way. Sound cool?
