Casting is underway for Marvel's cosmic superhero ensemble Guardians of the Galaxy from director James Gunn. We've heard more than a few names
for the shortlist trying to lock down Peter Quill (aka Starlord), and
now two more big names have come out of left field, but not for that
role. Latino Review (who has always been reliable with comic book scoops) has heard that Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler
are among the names being considered as Marvel has inquired about their
availability for this film. This would be the third comic book movie
for Carrey, but the first for Sandler. So what role would they have? Read on!
That remains unclear, but I wouldn't expect Sandler to suit up as a superhero. Carrey might be able to take a physical role, but the more likely option is that these two are being considered for voicing Rocket Raccoon or the other visual effects heavy team member Groot. Carrey's collection of funny voices is pretty much limitless so it would make a good fit. Sandler is a little less skilled in that arena, but still has some flare that could work for Rocket. Either way, this could be huge for both the actors. We'll see Carrey next in Kick-Ass 2 and Sandler is probably farting in a can somewhere. Oh, and just to add more names for Peter Quill, apparently Wes Bentley, Cam Gigandet and Chris Lowell are also testing.
