Bruce Willis to 'Sin City' & Toby Jones in 'Captain America 2'

The twisted timeline of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has been speculated about since the film was officially announced, but we're one step closer to being able to place the events of this movie on a timeline. MTV spoke with director Robert Rodriguez and confirmed that Bruce Willis will be returning to his role as Hartigan in the sequel. But that isn't the only film with a weird timeline on the horizon. Captain America: The Winter Soldier reportedly takes place in modern day, but now HeyUGuys adds to the confusion by reporting that Toby Jones will reprise his role as Arnim Zola in the Marvel movie. Read on!
Let's talk about Sin City: A Dame to Kill For first. With official confirmation that Willis will be back, we know that his segments in this movie will take place before the events of the first Sin City because *spoiler alert* Hartigan dies at the end of the first film. (Mickey Rourke is also coming back as Marv, and he died in the first one too.) Josh Brolin has taken over for Clive Owen as Dwight, but that character has a different face in this earlier part than in the first movie, so A Dame to Kill For is looking more like a full prequel than a sequel. Willis was one of the best parts of the original, so I'm psyched he's back.
As for Captain America: A Winter Soldier, we're all essentially still going in blind when it comes to the timeline for this one. Early word pegged the movie as taking place after The Avengers, and we know that Peggy Carter won't be back in action again (it'll be her niece Sharon this time out), but with Jones reprising his Nazi role, will we be seeing flashbacks or something more interesting? Zola is a biochemical genius, so could he have engineered some way to keep himself vital through the years? He was already middle aged in the first movie, so I don't think he'd be alive in modern day, so the only other major option would be seeing him in flashback form. Hopefully directors Joe and Anthony Russo can make this work because I think it'd be a little weird to include flashbacks without hitting Cap's romantic past in the process.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For comes to theaters in 3D on October 4th, 2013, while we'll see the star-spangled shield again in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, 2014. Sound good?
