'Game Change' Writer Danny Strong Gets 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay'

Hunger Games: Mockingjay
Director Gary Ross shared screenwriting duties for The Hunger Games after revamping a script by Breach scribe Billy Ray. But with Ross off the sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, writing duties fell to Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire). But who will script the two-part film finale The Hunger Games: Mockingjay? Variety has our answer as they report "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actor turned screenwriter Danny Strong, fresh off an Emmy win for scripting the HBO film Game Change, has been hired to adapt the third and final book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling, sci-fi, young adult novel trilogy. More info below!
Strong also scripted the HBO film Recount for director Jay Roach, but his first theatrical film will come in the form of The Butler - the Lee Daniels directed, generation spanning historical drama -  which Strong is also producing. Strong is also attached to the adaptation of Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, another high profile book heading to the big screen. Clearly Strong will have no problem diving into the politics and diplomacy of the book, but here's hoping he knows how to write action. If he turns in a solid script, you can count on seeing more of Strong's name attached to blockbusters, especially adaptations, in the future. Now we just need a director for Mockingjay. Any suggestions?
