Michael Bay Says That Leaked 'Ninja Turtles' Script is Just Old News

Ninja Turtles
Just yesterday, we ran a story about the brouhaha surrounding Paramount and Platinum Dunes' "Ninja Turtles" reboot complete with co-creator Peter Laird crapping on the leaked script that hit the internet earlier this week. Never one to keep his mouth shut and let his work do the talking for him, Platinum Dunes partner and Ninja Turtles producer Michael Bay has taken the opportunity to comment on the matter on his website (via Latino Review), claiming that the leaked screenplay everyone has read was a very early draft that was in place before he or his team even came on board. But that may not be entirely true. More below!

Here is Bay's exact quote:

The leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project. That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news -- wait for the movie!

Shredder pun aside, this sounds like typical damage control to me. He claims that the script was an old draft, but as some sharp-eyed readers have pointed out, the leaked script was dated 1/30/12, which was only a few months ago. That's especially strange because we wrote about Bay and Platinum Dunes coming on board the Ninja Turtles project back in May of 2010, which is over two years ago. So which one is it? Someone's lying. It could be Bay, in an effort to distance himself and his company from the vitriol being spewed toward the leaked script, or it could be a doctored or incorrect date on the script. Either way, it's not looking great for the pizza-eating reptiles since Paramount pushed the movie to May 2014. Thoughts?
