Hathaway is obviously no stranger to blockbusters after her impressive portrayal as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises this past summer. Pairing her with Hemsworth should be interesting, but we have no details about their characters, so we're not sure if they even interact in the film. There's likely plenty more big names coming down the line, as is the case with any Spielberg film. The director is busy finishing up Lincoln, but he'll be moving quickly to get Robopocalypse off the ground to meet that 2014 release date.
As for Rothman's involvement, Spielberg is confident in his abilities as a producer saying, "When someone like Tom is a free agent, you snatch him up fast. He has proven himself to be a necessity of this industry. At Fox he had already been an enthusiastic partner on Robopocalypse, and it is to our advantage that he would come produce this film with me." Rorthman has had a mix of failures and successes, but the fact that he's departed Fox is worrisome, but if Spielberg trusts him, then I guess that's a good sign. Perhaps this is one last hurrah for Rothman as he finishes out the year at Fox.
Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) adapted the book from author Daniel H. Wilson, and marks Spielberg's return to straight up sci-fi for the first time since War of the Worlds (or arguably Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). The story follows a robot rebellion against the human race in a future where the global network of machines on which our world has grown dependent suddenly becomes an implacable, deadly foe after a sentient piece of artificial intelligence reprograms them to become self-aware and fight back. Sounds like the perfect return to sci-fi for Spielberg.
