"What does it really take to create and complete a motion picture outside of the Hollywood system?" Earlier this year, we reported that Patrick Read Johnson's long-awaited film 5-25-77, about the opening night of Star Wars in 1977, might finally be released this year. Johnson announced he was driving across America, bringing everything to Hollywood to try and get the film distributed. In the meantime, he decided to make a documentary about that journey, and so the Hearts of Dorkness was born. We missed this trailer when it first hit, but came across it and still thought it worth featuring while we wait for updates on 5-25-77. Enjoy!

I've been patiently waiting to see this ever since we first ran the trailer back in 2009; it was actually filmed back in 2007, but has been stuck trying to get released ever since. The perfect nerdy roadtrip doc to compliment what looks to be a geeky, but outstanding, indie gem. Hey Patrick - when can we see it?!
