Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Takes Second Villain Role in 'Thor' Sequel

Thor: The Dark World
Hot on the heels of news that Kat Dennings would reprise her role as Darcy Lewis in Thor: The Dark World, we have even more casting for the Marvel comic book sequel. Variety reports "Lost" and The Bourne Identity star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has landed a second villain role that will see him playing dual roles (kind of). While Christopher Eccleston is set to play Malekith the Accursed, the G.I. Joe star will play Algrim the Strong, who is coerced into fighting Thor by Malkeith. But the game is changed when he betrays Algrim and leaves him for dead. But that's not the end of this villain's tangle with the Thor.

During the battle, Malekith tries to destroy the Thunder God by ordering the opening of a pitfall into lava under Thor and Algrim. The former saves himself courtesy of Mjolnir, but Algrim falls into the magma with his armor saving his life, but not stopping some critical injury that also leaves him with amnesia and a strong desire to kill Thor. Algrim is later healed by the cosmic entity the Beyonder, who transforms him into the much more powerful being called Kurse, making him twice as strong as Thor. Should make for quite an intense battle. We're not sure how much of this comic mythology will end up on the big screen, but it sounds like Akinnuoye-Agbaje has a pivotal villain role and will give Chris Hemsworth a run for his money. Anyone else want to see him fight Idris Elba as Heimdall in Asgard? That'd be one hell of a fight.
