Director Eli Roth Says the 'Thanksgiving' Blood Feast is Still Coming

Thanksgiving
We've already seen one of the faux trailers from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's throwback venture Grindhouse turned into a feature film in the form of Machete (and the forthcoming sequel Machete Kills). But there's one other feature film version of one of the twisted trailers that has been in the works for awhile. Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) directed the Thanksgiving trailer, and he's been talking about adapting it as a real film for years, but it sounds like it's closer to reality than ever before. Roth told Behind the Thrills (via AICN), "Dude, it's gonna happen. I'm working with the Clown writers on it." Nice!

The writers aren't of the dark comedy Klovn or the remake starring Danny McBride, but rather a film produced by Roth about a loving father who finds a clown suit for his son's birthday party, only to realize the suit is part of an evil curse that turns its wearer into a killer. Roth says he and his co-writer Jeff Rundell, "have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and how to make it really really scary, and the reason to do it, and I'm really excited about it." Meanwhile, the Clown writers, Chris Ford (who also wrote Robot & Frank) and Jon Watts, have Roth's praise for writing one of the best scripts he's ever read, and they'll be working with him and Rundell on fleshing out the full length script. Since this was just a Grindhouse trailer to begin with, I hope it doesn't take itself too seriously and brings laughs with the scares.
