The film will certainly allow a great child actor to have a breakthrough role, and maybe even become another young Oscar contender. As one review says on Amazon, "More than a story of survival, it's a time-tempered reckoning with what it means to be a father and a son." Penn's last bout with father and son relationships resulted in the gorgeous, existential drama Tree of Life, so it'll be interesting to see what he does with this dynamic within his own film. Variety says, seals are still being finalized for both Brolin and Penn but it looks like the film will shoot sometime early in 2013.
