Now that we have a date for The Avengers 2 hitting theaters in 2015, we can start digging into the details of the films between now and then including Iron Man 3 (which is having a slight production delay), Thor: The Dark World (with Christopher Eccleston as the villain) and Captain America: The Winter Solider which has Anthony Mackie signing up for duty with Chris Evans. Now the latter Marvel sequel is also working to line-up a female lead and The NY Post reports Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots and Felicity Jones are all on the shortlist to play an unknown character, though we have a good idea of who it might be.

These actresses are likely being lined up to play Sharon Carter, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D who is the niece of Peggy Carter, the love interest of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger. There were rumblings of Atwell somehow being brought back, but since the sequel is set in present day, it's unlikely that she would be another female lead again. This line-up of actresses is exciting, but I wish Alice Eve, who was once in consideration for the role of Peggy Carter, was included too. My choice for the role is Kendrick, who deserves a big comic role like this, but Jones (who stunned my with talent in Like Crazy) would be great too.
